The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments what I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on you children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:4-9

Challenged and guided by the above Scripture, congregations develop plans for ministry to the home (family) and establish effective, dynamic, inter-congregational partnerships to support their efforts. Through these endeavors, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, parents find the enrichment and assistance they need for effective, lifelong faith formation for all within their homes.

To develop a Home Centered, Church Supported ministry, congregations are encouraged to explore ways to empower the home (family) to be the primary agency of faith formation. This Task Force will provide information, models and materials which enable congregations to expand this vital ministry. Both lay and professional leaders are invited participate in numerous opportunities for growth in this area of ministry and to continuously seek new ways to help their congregations be more family friendly and thus more effective in discipling families with children.

Because of the encouragement, assistance and prayers received from the Family Life Ministry Council, congregations can actively pursue new approaches such as inter-congregational activities, worship formats with stronger family focus and mentoring. Consequently, families are equipped and empowered for new and dynamic homes, where there is a safe environment for adults and children to practice, experience and grow in the Christian faith and the family becomes a model of servanthood reaching others for Christ.
